Orange Cladding, London

Left to Chance
Once again, I left my house without knowing where exactly my journey would lead me to.
Since I took my camera tripod with me I must have subconsciously tuned my creative mind into taking some static images of architectural structures; one of my favourite subjects.
Often, creativity springs from opportunities, and as much as I love a more conceptual approach to my work, it sometimes pays off to just let eyes and mind wander and embrace chances as they arise.
No particular Subject in Mind
I hadn’t been focusing on a particular subject or theme and during my first hour or two of carrying my equipment through the streets of central London I randomly shot what appeared to be ‘interesting’; often a successful approach to getting into a creative mindset.
Now, everyone who has ever spent some time in London knows that the opportunities are endless. Wherever one goes, chances appear and often it is difficult to decide which one to take first.

Structures, Structures, Structures
Sometimes, I believe that my brain purely thinks in structures. Wherever I go, whatever I see, I immediately see symmetries and surface structures which, combined with colours, manifest in an image in my mind.
Orange and Grey
Now, it is easy to recognise by the viewer that in this very small series of images ‘orange’ (in combination with ‘grey’) was the predominant feature that caught my eye and made me capture the moment. I was fascinated by the combination of orange and grey elements and both together they made a wonderful symbiosis.
Enthusiasm, Creativity, Change, Happiness and Fascination
Although I couldn’t claim orange to be my favourite colour, I do have to admit that it has a certain fascination. In colour psychology orange is often associated with enthusiasm, creativity, change, happiness and fascination, to name a few only, so it should be to no surprise that orange captures people’s attention.
