Wood Cladding
The vertical lines in this facade wood cladding caught my attention when wandering around Bermondsey, near Tower Bridge in London. Originally on my way to another location to take a shot of a particular metal structure I’ve had in mind for years, this wood cladding had a certain appeal to me which I could not resist to capture.
Both photographs in this series are simple, and taken from a frontal viewpoint. Straight, undistorted and parallel vertical lines add to their minimalist character.
The subtle, almost golden, and warm colour of the wood planks and the matching colour of the surface in the foreground contrast to the unemotional straight lines of the overall structure, a perfect symbiosis of two contrasting elements.

These photographs captivate by the amount of detail, both of the wood planks and the screws as well as the details in the foreground. Printed on high-grade printing paper and framed in a dark brown, hand-crafted picture frame with a medium-wide matting this photograph will make a wonderful piece of art.
