(2015)

I shot this mini-series of two photographs in 2015 in my studio in Germany. At that time I was acquiring new furniture for both my studio and office.

The shown objects are one table and two shelves, all made of untreated steel and which I’d had built for different purposes. The bottom object is a square steel table, the two objects on top are a coffee table and a larger shelve which was later to support one of my fine art printers.

While stacking them in one corner of my studio for the reason of temporary storage during some renovation works, I noticed the lines and symmetries and the uncountable number of variations these objects offered to the viewer.

A few days later, and still with the impression in mind that there was a great opportunity for a little series of photographs, I decided to give it a try.

During the process of arranging and lighting the scene and its objects I fell in love with the combination of patterns both of the objects themselves as well as the shadows they created on the studio wall. I decided to focus on this concert of lines of both real objects and their shadows and you can see the result in the images below.
