David develops his first creative skills in primary school, where he takes part in art history and arts & crafts classes, including woodworks, ceramics, metalworks, sculpting, and painting and drawing. He discovers his passion for arts and crafts and also develops his first interest in photography in these early years.

After school, David completes four years of professional education as a photographer which allows him to train with state-of-the-art large and medium format cameras and photographic lighting systems. This is a period when David develops his skills in photographic lighting which will allow him to develop his signature style in still life photography later on, a genre David has since been drawn to. Through his work at the commercial photo studio and its connections to the film industry, David takes an opportunity to start working on commercial film sets in Dusseldorf, and as an assistant photographer to local photographers.

In Dusseldorf David meets the artists Wilhelm Moser and David Colby, and subsequently starts working for the couple’s business, helping publish The Manipulator and SELECT Magazine. During this time David meets a number of fascinating characters, resulting in close friendships that last until today. He also learns about alternative photographic processes and his creativity and curiosity in photography as an art form spark once again.

After completing three years of evening school, David receives his high-school diploma and subsequently works for Andreas Gursky in the artist’s atelier in Dusseldorf. During the following year, David supports the artist in both artistic and personal matters.

Over the following years, and strongly influenced by his employer Gursky, David develops an intense interest in the arts and creates his own first works. However, despite a growing passion and fascination for the arts, it takes several more years until he takes his first steps towards his own career as an artist. He moves to London with his partner and works in different roles in the media industry, providing him a sustainable income that allows him to pursue his artistic career.

In 2019 David puts a focus on his career as an artist and shifts his available time from income providing projects to working on his art.

David lives and works in London.
